Protect Your Phone Before It Goes Missing (Coming Soon)

QR stickers for phone cases are coming soon. Once available, you attach a thin, waterproof sticker to the back of your case. If someone finds your phone — even if it's locked — they can scan the code with their own device, and you get an email alert and can reply through private messaging.

Use a friend's device or computer to post a recovery alert on the ILS Lost & Found Board. Describe your phone, where it was last seen, and any reward you're offering.

Steps to Take When You Lose Your Phone

1. Use Find My Phone (Apple) or Find My Device (Android) to see the last GPS location.
2. Post a lost phone alert on the ILS Lost & Found Board with the last known location.
3. Call your carrier to temporarily lock or suspend the SIM.
4. Change passwords on critical accounts from another device.
5. File a police report if the phone was in a public place — this helps with insurance claims.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can someone scan the QR tag if my phone is locked?

Yes. The QR sticker is on the outside of the device. Any person with a smartphone can scan it using their camera app without needing access to your locked phone.

Will a phone case cover the sticker?

The planned stickers are designed to be placed in visible spots — the back of your phone case, inside a wallet case flap, or on the charging cable. Thin, durable, and water-resistant.
